A mortuary attendant in Ghana has disclosed that some pastors from all walks of life are paying as much as USD500 for what is referred to as “d3ad body water.”
In an interview with a local media outlet, the female mortuary worker shared insights into the surprising demand for this water.
The attendant, whose identity remains undisclosed, revealed that pastors are willing to pay the amount for the water, often leading to shortages due to high demand.
This water is collected from the cleaning process after corpses are bathed at the mortuary.
She explained that, following the bathing of a corpse, the cleaners collect the used water and store it in bottles.

Pastors then purchase this water, usually in secretive transactions.
Describing this practice as a “side job,” the mortuary worker admitted that the extra income from selling this water helps supplement the modest earnings from their primary duties. “Our main job doesn’t pay much, but this side business sometimes leaves us struggling to keep up with demand,” she said.
The worker chose not to name any specific pastors or churches, possibly to avoid potential repercussions. She explained that the water is utilized by pastors to perform miracles in their churches, adding, “Most of these pastors use the water to perform miracles for their congregations.”
