Musical artist and actress Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, has initiated legal proceedings against her former boss and romantic partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs. The lawsuit alleges a prolonged period of ‘ab_se, violence, and tl0f tl0f trafficking’ during their relationship, claims denied by Combs.
In a complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, Ventura contends that Combs enticed her into a lavish, fast-paced, and drug-fueled lifestyle, leading to a romantic involvement with him. This ab_se began in 2005 when the then 19-year-old Ventura first encountered the 37-year-old Combs.
Ventura’s complaint outlines the ab_se she endured throughout her relationship with Combs. Among the allegations are instances of forced tl0f tl0f in 2018, coercion into engaging in explicit acts with male thigh vendors while being filmed, and being compelled to carry Combs’s firearm to instil fear and demonstrate his purported danger.
One particularly striking claim in the lawsuit involves Combs threatening to detonate rapper Kid Cudi’s car in 2012. This was due to his displeasure with Ventura dating the “Day N’ Nite” singer. The complaint suggests that shortly after this threat, Kid Cudi’s car indeed exploded in his driveway, a fact corroborated by a statement from Kid Cudi’s spokeswoman to the New York Times.
In a statement to CNN, Ventura explained her decision to come forward. She stated, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and ab_se in their relationships.”
She shared that the timing of her disclosure is in line with the approaching expiration of New York’s Adult Survivors Act. Cassie emphasises the need to address the trauma she experienced at the hands of Sean Combs.
Combs, renowned for launching the careers of artists like Mary J. Blige and the Notorious B.I.G., has denied Ventura’s allegations. His attorney released a statement asserting that the accusations were part of a baseless and outrageous lawsuit. He shared that Cassie aims to tarnish Combs’s reputation and seek financial gain.
The attorney also claimed that Ventura once demanded $30 million under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship. The offer was rejected as blatant blackmail. Ventura allegedly resorted to filing a lawsuit with what Combs’s legal representation deems as falsehoods.
Ventura’s lawsuit is brought under the Adult Survivors Act, a New York state law allowing victims of sexual abuse to file civil suits after the statute of limitations has expired. The one-year window for victims to bring cases under this law is set to close this week.
