A woman from Chikanga broke down in court while explaining how her 39-year-old daughter left her in a critical state to be with her boyfriend in South Africa.
Mellisa Muchina went to Mutare Civil Court asking for a peace order against her daughter, Nothando Muchina.
The court granted the order.
She was very ill in July and needed her daughter’s care, but Nothando chose to go to South Africa instead.
Mellisa felt abandoned and helpless. After Nothando returned, Mellisa asked her to move out and gave her two weeks to find a new place, but she hasn’t moved yet.
She desperately wants the court to help her get her house back.

Nothando admitted she was wrong to leave her mother alone and apologized. She said she was blinded by her relationship and tried to make it up by calling and sending food, but her mother ignored her efforts.
“I realize now that leaving my sick mother to be with my boyfriend in South Africa was a mistake, and I fully own up to it. I tried to make things right by calling her and sending food, but she understandably didn’t respond. I regret stopping my efforts to reach out, and I am genuinely sorry for that,” she said.
Nothando wants to make amends and plans to stay with her brother in Harare.
