The trial of Neville Mutsvangwa, son of Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, was postponed on July 17 due to the State’s pending investigations.
Mutsvangwa was arrested on charges of illegal forex trading and money laundering alongside Elias Majachani, 45, and Simbarashe Tichingana, 38. They were remanded on US$1,000 bail each.
The trio appeared before Harare provincial magistrate Simon Kandiyero on Wednesday.
The magistrate rescheduled the matter to August 28.
Neville Mutsvangwa is the first high-profile, politically exposed individual to be charged with illegal foreign currency dealings following the government’s crackdown on suspected money changers, which commenced after the introduction of the new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold, in April.
