A 30-year-old Mwenezi man was arr3sted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in connection with a case of m-rder and attempted murd3r which occurred at Sikomo Village, Mwenezi in Masvingo Province.
A tr@gic incident took place on the 12th of January, 2025, has left the community reeling after Trust Bhonde (30) allegedly set a kitchen hut ablaze in which Nollen Rivete (27) and her mother Manyuke Sasai (50) were sleeping in.
According to a Police statement on their official X handle, the two managed to escape from the burning hut but the suspect went on to strike his mother in-law on the head with a hoe before hitting his wife( Nollen Rivete ) several times on the head.
Manyuke Sasai, Mother-in-law to the suspect sustained head inj_ries and became unconscious while Nollen Rivete sustained serious head inj-ries and succumbed to the inj-ries. The body of the deceased was taken the nearest hospital for postmortem while the suspect’s mother-in-law is at the same hospital receiving treatment.
Currently, Trust Bhonde is inpolice custody awaiting for court appearance facing m-rder and attempted m-rder charges.
