A group of men who claimed to be security personnel at Morgan Tsvangirai House (formerly known as Harvest House) were acc*ssed att@cking two Harare City Parking marshals over a dispute concerning a parking space at the premises.
One of the accused, Josiah Mhiripiri (23), appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi this week facing charges of ass@ult and malicious damage to property.
According to prosecutor Thomas Chanakira, on March 18, the complainants, led by City Parking operations manager Thomas Chigodora, received information that the parking marshals were being ch@sed away by the accused persons, who claimed to be Mwonzora security team.
He said the complainants sought assistance from the police, who escorted them to Richard Morgan Tsvangirai House, where the accused were present and only left when they had seemingly resolved the matter between the two parties.
It is, however, alleged that Mhiripiri and three other accomplices in the matter later approached the complainants accusing them for engaging the police in their meeting of sharing parking spaces.
The accused persons allegedly charged towards the complainants, who ran away after they realised that the atmosphere was getting tense.
The court heard that the accused persons then hurled stones and empty bottles at the complainants, who made good their escape by speeding off in two City Park motor vehicles.
The matter was remanded to May 6 for bail application.
