In Matobo, a significant incident unfolded on October 19, 2024, when police apprehended 72-year-old Gibson Ndlovu in connection with the murd3r of his 39-year-old neighbor, Mncedisi Ndebele.
The confrontation began when Ndebele allegedly approached Ndlovu’s home armed with a machete, accusing him of encroaching upon his yard.
When Ndebele struck Ndlovu on the left hand with the weapon, a violent struggle ensued, in which Ndlovu managed to disarm the younger man.
Following the disarmament, the situation escalated tragically as Ndlovu reportedly struck Ndebele indiscriminately across his body with the very machete that had been wielded against him.
In a gruesome turn of events, Ndlovu later disposed of Ndebele’s body on a rockery located within his own yard, attempting to conceal the heinous act.
The local police were alerted to the scene, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest as they launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities subsequently transported Ndebele’s remains to the United Bulawayo Groups of Hospitals mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
