A 23-year-old man from Mphoengs, located in Matebeleland South, found himself facing legal action after allegedly @ssaulting his neighbor over a disputed gambling prize.
Philani Maphosa appeared in Plumtree magistrates court, where he was remanded in custody until October 11 by Magistrate Mr. Joshua Nembaware.
According to the state, represented by prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, the incident occurred on the evening of October 4.
The complainant approached Maphosa to claim a mobile phone that he asserted he had won during a gambling session, but Maphosa refused to hand it over.
In a turn of events, the complainant, accompanied by a friend, forcibly dragged Maphosa out of his yard, which sparked a heated argument between the two.
In a fit of anger, Maphosa picked up a half brick and struck the complainant, inflicting inj_ry before fleeing the scene into the darkness.
The complainant was left writhing in pain as the altercation unfolded.
