Michael Nees, the newly appointed head coach of Zimbabwe’s national football team, the Warriors, has arrived in Harare and is set to be officially unveiled today. Nees, a German national, was appointed on July 30 on a two-year contract, though his arrival was delayed due to work permit issues.
According to Yvonne Manwa, the general-secretary of the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa), Nees landed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport around lunchtime on Monday.
Manwa confirmed that they are finalizing the details of the unveiling event, which is expected to take place today. The formal introduction to the media will follow shortly.

Nees’ first tasks include assembling his coaching staff and preparing the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Warriors are set to face Kenya and Cameroon next month, with the first match on September 4 in Kenya and the second match scheduled for a neutral venue against Cameroon.
The remaining qualifiers will occur in October and November, featuring matches against Namibia and a return fixture against Kenya.
Since the Zifa normalization committee took over football governance in Zimbabwe over a year ago, the Warriors have had five different interim coaches. Nees’ appointment marks a new chapter as he aims to guide Zimbabwe to the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco next year.
