NGO cries foul for usage of Female Cond0ms in Kadoma

A non-governmental organization, Centre for S3xual Health and HIV/AIDS Research (CeSHHAR), has reported a significant increase in the use of female c0ndoms among s3x workers in Kadoma, Zimbabwe. The organization, which provides free HIV services to commercial s3x workers, has seen a rise in demand for female cond0ms, particularly flavored ones.

According to CeSHHAR’s outreach officer, Audrey Chikeya, the introduction of flavored female cond0ms has been a major factor in their increased popularity. Chikeya believes that the different flavors of the cond0ms make them more marketable and attractive to s3x workers’ partners, which in turn leads to increased use.

In addition to the condoms, CeSHHAR’s s3xual education awareness programs have also contributed to the increased uptake of female c0ndoms. The organization provides free HIV services, including screening and treatment for s3xually transmitted infections (STIs), as well as cond0m education and distribution to s3x workers.

The National Aids Council has reported that the HIV prevalence in Sanyati District, which includes Kadoma Urban, is 11.4%, making it a high-risk area for HIV transmission. The district’s mining areas tend to have high rates of STIs, which are often a proxy indicator for HIV infections.

The most vulnerable populations in the district are s3x workers and gold panners, who are at risk due to the rampant mining operations in the region. The district’s HIV hotspots include Rumwe, Patchway, ARDA Sanyati, and Chakari.

Overall, the increased use of female c0ndoms among s3x workers in Kadoma is a positive trend, as it can help reduce the risk of HIV transmission and other STIs.
