Renowned musician Enoch “Nox” Guni has recently faced a wave of backlash on social media following the announcement of his marriage to Gladys Mapfumo, with some critics labeling her as an ‘old’ woman.
In response to the speculation, Nox has clarified his wife’s age, stating that Gladys is 37 years old.
The couple tied the knot on December 28, and images from their lobola ceremony sparked intense online discourse, making Nox a trending topic. Among the critics was his ex-wife, Tallyn Ndudzo, who added to the online chatter.
In an interview with The Herald Arts, Nox defended his new wife, highlighting the joy and support she brings into his life despite the negativity they’ve encountered.
“We don’t live for the social media streets, but God has a purpose in life for everything that happens,” he remarked.
Nox expressed immense gratitude for marrying someone who shares his background, as both he and Gladys come from Gutu.
“I am glad that I have married the right person who hails from my province in Gutu. She was raised in Chiredzi, but Gutu is her home area, and I come from Zaka,” he noted.
Despite the online criticisms, Nox emphasized their happiness is not influenced by public opinion.

“Whatever people are saying, we won’t listen to them because we did not marry to impress them. The same haters who are having a field day on social media also need true love. You can’t live for the people because people are bound to say anything they want in life,” he stated.
Reflecting on his experiences with criticism, Nox acknowledged that being a public figure comes with its challenges but has allowed him to grow. “As celebrities, we are always in the spotlight because people will always talk.
In my case, I have learnt to embrace criticism, which has kept me going and strong. Without criticism, we are nothing, and I am glad that God has been keeping us going and strong,” he concluded.
