A Gweru woman has shaken her community after she was crushed by a moving train and d*ed while wearing earphones.
The incident occurred on 11 December 2023 at the Amtec level crossing in the Midlands capital.
The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) confirmed the incident on its X account yesterday. They are, however, treating the incident as a case of su!c!de. The Zimbabwe republic Police (ZRP) is yet to comment on the incident.
The lady was heading home, and she passed at the Amtec level crossing. A locomotive appeared, and it tragically smashed and crushed her to d3ath.
The National Railways of Zimbabwe tweeted about the incident in Gweru:
“A woman was hit and k!lled by a locomotive in a case of suspected su1c1de in Gweru this afternoon. The incident occurred at the Amtec level crossing. The woman’s identity has not yet been established. Police from Gweru Central Police Station attended the scene.”
However, a Gweru Facebook blog said the incident was an accident. Tobve Gweru posted that the lady, Agatha Tadokera, was coming from the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) offices and had just taken her licence. They added that the Riverside lady was wearing earphones when the NRZ locomotive k1lled her.

Kufamba wakaisa maEarphones muroad or mutown zvinofanira kusungisa zvakafanana nekuDriver wakadhakwa. Hatingarambi tichirasikirwa nehupenyu nenzira iyi.”
Social media users expressed pain and sadness at the tragedy in Gweru.
