Wellington Masiwa, aka Nyokayemabhunu, is in a bit of a pickle. The Zimbabwean government has issued an international arrest warrant for him, claiming he’s got a fraud sentence to serve back home.
Masiwa’s been in South African custody since April 13, facing immigration charges for not having a valid visa. Now, he’s got a court date to deal with those charges, and the Zimbabwean government is trying to extradite him.
The twist? Masiwa’s documents say he was born in 1987, but the Zimbabwean government claims he’s actually from 1977. Talk about a decade-long identity crisis!
Masiwa’s lawyers think the whole thing is a ruse to get him back to Zimbabwe and throw him in jail for running anti-Mnangagwa WhatsApp groups. And to add insult to injury, his WhatsApp groups have been hacked and are now spreading… let’s just say, “interesting” content.
The case is postponed to May 9, so it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
