Nzvimbe clinic commissioned

Nzvimbe clinic commissioned

GOVERNMENT is on course to fulfil its promise of improving the country’s health delivery system after commissioning another health facility in the Makoni South area of Manicaland province.

Nzvimbe Clinic in Makoni South is among several health facilities constructed under the Second Republic in Manicaland province.

The latest development has been welcomed by villagers in Nzvimbe and surrounding communities who were walking long distances to the nearest clinic.

“Before the construction of this clinic, we were travelling more than 20 kilometres to the nearest health facility. The delivery pains during the long distances were a cause of concern,” said a Nzvimbe villager.

“We are facing a cholera outbreak and this facility comes hand. We are looking forward to the facility being upgraded to a district hospital status,” said another.

“What has changed a lot here is that this health facility has eliminated cases of pregnant women giving birth or dying giving birth before accessing health services. We are happy that there is water and electricity at the health facility,” said a villager.

Health officials and the local leadership are proud to be part of life transformative project with the facility’s huge catchment area speaking volumes of its importance.

Makoni District Medical Officer Dr Tendai Nyafesa said, “We are providing several health services at this clinic including all the consultations for general conditions, treatment of many diseases such as Malaria, mal-nutrition and provision of maternity services among other services. We have qualified nurses to help pregnant women deliver. This is like any other reputable clinics in other places.”

“This clinic was funded by devolution funds and we were able to electricity the facility using solar energy as well as putting in place a piped water system. We also constructed nurses’ houses using devolution funds,” said the Makoni Rural District Council CEO, Dr Edward Pise.

Makoni South Legislator Honourable Albert Nyakuedzwa said, “This clinic does not only serve ward 31 one in Makoni district but serves part of Mash East, part of Buhera North and part of Mutare West and Mutare North.”

Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza says the clinic is among modern facilities that meet the health demands of current and future generations.

“This state-of-the-art clinic is solar-powered and has tap water. This is what we expect at all rural clinics. This clinic does a lot of things and it’s just that it does not have a resident doctor to call it a hospital. These are part of the great works of the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa.”

Apart from health facilities, the Second Republic is also spearheading the construction of schools in rural areas under the devolution agenda.
