A simple yet effective dating tip has been making waves on social media, thanks to a young Nigerian man who shared his unorthodox approach to asking women out.
The idea, which involves giving a woman your phone number instead of asking for hers, was first shared by X user @chinedu_10 and has since been put to the test by another user, @Yorubatoast1.
The latter’s experience with the method was overwhelmingly positive.

He had been admiring a woman on his daily bus commute and decided to try out the approach. Instead of asking for her number, he handed her a handwritten note with his phone number.
To his delight, she texted him hours later, initiating a lively and humorous conversation.
This successful outcome was a testament to the effectiveness of the approach.
As @Yorubatoast1 shared in an update, “I decided to try this method yesterday, and it actually works, guys.
Don’t let Twitter women gaslight you; give out your number instead. If she’s interested, she’ll message you.”
The originator of the idea, @chinedu_10, had emphasized that this approach is not about being proud or trying to project an “alpha male” image, but rather about respecting one’s time. By giving a woman his number and telling her to text him, he filters out those who are not genuinely interested, saving himself from wasting time on unfruitful pursuits. As he put it, “If she doesn’t text, I’ve saved myself from wasting time on something that wouldn’t work out. Trust me, this works!”
