MORE than 3 000 delegates drawn from the country’s 10 provinces and the world are expected to attend the Zanu PF Annual People’s Conference in Gweru next week.
The conference will be held from October 25-29 at the party’s Convention Centre in Gweru, Midlands province.
Zanu PF director for Information and Publicity Cde Farai Marapira said preparations for the party’s conference are almost 80 percent.
Cde Marapira said Zanu PF Chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha, Treasurer General Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Secretary for External Affairs Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and other Midlands provincial party leadership toured the Convention Centre yesterday to assess the state of preparedness.
“More than 3 000 delegates are expected to attend the conference, with foreign delegates, which includes sister revolutionary parties, international delegates from friendly countries and ambassadors.
“We will also have a business expo which will run concurrently with the conference. The Zanu PF Women’s League will also exhibit their products at the conference venue. Accreditation of delegates started on Wednesday in various provinces. We expect accreditation to be done on Tuesday next week,” said Cde Marapira. The 20th Zanu PF National Annual People’s conference is expected to reflect on the party’s achievements, the state of the party, the economy, food security and nutrition, social services, and poverty eradication.
The party will also touch on macroeconomic stability, re-engagement, infrastructure development and utilities as well as value addition and beneficiation, and take stock of the performance of the party in the just-ended elections.
The National People’s Conference, which comes after the ruling party’s victory in the August 23 elections, is held on a rotational basis and presents a chance for reflection on party electoral promises as well as reaffirmation of the country’s vision.
