A renowned Ghanaian preacher Pastor Oduro has called on women to refrain from cooking, cleaning, and performing household chores for men they are not married to.
He argues that these actions, while culturally accepted in Ghana, can lead to women being undervalued in their relationships.
Pastor Oduro emphasized that in Ghana, it is a common belief that women should undertake domestic responsibilities to demonstrate their worth as potential wives and encourage men to marry them.
However, he warns that this cultural expectation might backfire.

“Ladies, stop playing the role of a wife to a man who has not married you. When you do everything for him, he has no incentive to marry you. Why will he pay for the cow when he is getting the milk for free?” he stated, highlighting the dangers of complacency when it comes to relationship commitments.
He further explained that when men enjoy the privileges of a committed relationship without the formal commitment of marriage, they may become complacent. Instead of feeling motivated to solidify the relationship, they might take these gestures for granted, potentially delaying or avoiding marriage altogether.
