A daring thief from Plumtree stole a police bicycle parked at a supermarket and varnished with it. Brilliant Ndlovu (31) appeared before magistrate Joshua Nembaware yesterday charged with theft. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody for sentencing tomorrow.
In his plea of guilty, he told the magistrate that he stole the bicycle because he did not have bus fare after being discharged from hospital.
“Your worship l stole this bicycle because l did not have bus fare from a Bulawayo hospital to Fgree l had walked a long distance so l was tired hence l stole the bicycle,” Ndlovu said.
Prosecutor Anorld Mudekunye told the court that on August 29 a police officer Nkosonathi Nangati parked a police bicycle at a supermarket in Bulawayo to buy refreshments.
Ndlovu came and stole the bicycle, The cop discovered that the bicycle was stolen and he tried to check for bicycle marks which led him to a tar. The police received a tip-off the following day and managed to arrest Ndlovu.
