Russian President, Vladimir Putin’s visit to Kim Jong Un in North Korea has been confirmed for this week after a long 24 years.
According to sources, the visit was announced by both countries on Monday,17 June and this has sparked international concerns about their military cooperation.
North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said Putin will pay a state visit on Tuesday and Wednesday.
U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Monday the White House is “concerned” about the closer ties between Moscow and Pyongyang.
“We’re not concerned about the trip. What we are concerned about is the deepening relationship between these two countries,” Kirby said.
The global growing concerns about an alleged arms arrangement in which Pyongyang provides Moscow with ammunitions to fuel Putin’s war in Ukraine in exchange for economic assistance and technology advancements in North Korea.
