Renowned Zimbabwean investigative journalist Hopewell Chin’ono said it’s so painful to see someone giving up on his or her dignity. In a video post on X, many people and a group of nurses from Harare were singing and dancing chattering ‘Java chibaba’ at RG Mugabe international airport.
Chin’ono took his X handle account and wrote the following supported by the video below :
Many Zimbabweans have become so poor and they have hopelessly given up on their dignity such that a whole group of nurses from one of the 5 central hospitals went to the airport to welcome a FAKE prophet aligned to the corrupt ruling party ZANUPF, who donated an ambulance to their hospital.
When a people dehumanise themselves to this extend, there is nothing you can do to help them, they are too far gone!
Let us try on the younger generations who are still in school, the adults have no dignity left in them and they are not attempting to retain it.
It is so painful to watch, but some Zimbabweans have now become the problem!
This is happening at Zimbabwe’s biggest international airport in the capital city Harare.
An embarrassing spectacle at the very place where the world first experiences our country!
When desperation and poverty reach such levels that people are willing to compromise on their dignity for small gestures, it speaks to the deep challenges facing this once dignified and prosperous country.
The systemic issues at play are many, this country has been ruthlessly looted and plundered in the last decade such that a donation of an ambulance has gotten a whole hospital out to welcome the dodgy character behind the donation.
Battered and bruised, central hospitals in Zimbabwe don’t even have basic drugs like IV Paracetamol.
This is a country that used to have the second most sophisticated economy in Africa at independence in 1980.
Now it is a basket case, a text book example of how not to be a country!

This comes after self-styled prophet Passion Java and his wife have donated two ambulances to support Zimbabwe’s healthcare services.
