Top Nigerian actress, producer, and red-carpet host Uchee Ogbodo is expected on Saturday ahead of the much-publicised Business Shower scheduled to take place the same day.
The Business Shower to be hosted by comedienne and socialite Felista Murata, affectionately known as Mai Tt, will see some of the local business personalities sharing words of wisdom apart from exchanging notes and networking.
The afternoon event will see ‘ladies’ man’, Trevor Dongo serenading guests with his music.
The event will be held at Heritage Village in Harare and will see speakers such as Karen Mutasa, Mandy Sigauke, George Munengwa, Carol Mashingaidze, Rachel Jambaya, Odert Gogwe, Zodwa Mkandla, and Bridget Chirume, among others.
It will be officiated by the Permanent Secretary of Women Affairs Community and Small to Medium Enterprises Development while Nigerian actress Uche Obgodo will share her testimony also.
In an interview with The Herald Arts, Mai Tt said men are also welcome at the event.
“All is set for the business shower and I am so excited that speakers have confirmed their participation,” she said.
“Obgodo is expected to be here tomorrow morning and we are in touch with her management so any changes or developments we will update.”
Asked what inspired the business shower, Mai Tt said wanted to see women making it, working and empowering each other.
“I am a businesswoman and I love to see women making it, assisting each other to achieve their goals. I love to see them survive especially in this male dormitory industries. Some women face a lot of challenges, especially in marriages where they are abused and at the end of the day they walk out free but with nothing,” she explained.
“The event is about motivating, encouraging them to work, to be independent not to rely much on men. By the way, men are allowed to come to hear the women speak and also learn one or two things.”
She said guests are to dress for the occasion with emphasis on their professional work identity.
“It would be nice if people came dressed in their professional attire. If you are from the security sector or medical, law, or education you can come dressed in your uniform. Some can wear power suits depending on what suits them best.”
Besides the speeches, there is going to be networking.”
Mai Tt said the business shower will also help with emotional support, a great way to get first-hand product feedback generate leads for future sales, and find potential business partners.
