Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored at least 40 goals in 12 different calendar years. The 38-year-old hit the 40-goal mark for 2023 during Portugal’s 5-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday night.
Ronaldo opened the scoring by converting a penalty kick in the fifth minute.
That was his 39th goal of 2023.
His 40th arrived just 17 minutes later when he beat keeper Ibrahim Sehic with a cheeky lob after being set up by Joao Felix.
This was Ronaldo’s ninth goal for Portugal in 2023, coming in his seventh international appearance of the year.
At club level, Ronaldo has so far scored 31 goals in 36 games for Al Nassr since January.
