In Mozambique, a priest’s fervent faith led him to make an audacious attempt at performing a resurrection.
Inspired by the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the story of Lazarus, the priest believed that he, too, could bring a deceased person back to life.
Perhaps fueled by the spirit of Easter and a desire to emulate Christ’s miracles, he set out to defy d€ath itself.
The priest, guided by what he claimed was a divine message, went to Chimoio Provincial Hospital in the Manica province, convinced that he could revive a d5ad body.
Despite his confidence and persistent prayers over two days, the deceased did not awaken.
The hospital authorities, initially persuaded by his conviction, eventually saw no results.

The family of the deceased was not surprised by the outcome.
The deceased’s sister, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted, “The priest prayed continuously in the morgue and even shook my brother’s head, shouting for him to wake up. We had no reason to believe that this would work, as he has never demonstrated any real ability to revive the dead.”
Ultimately, the priest’s actions were deemed disrespectful to the deceased, and he was arrested for his attempt. His defense centered on a possible miscommunication from divine sources, but the court found little sympathy for his unfulfilled miracle.
