Russian President Vladimir Putin convened a late-night meeting with top defense and security officials and the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, in response to the crash of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter.
According to the IRNA news agency, attendees included Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, Emergencies Ministry head Alexander Kurenkov, and Special Assistant to the President Igor Levitin.
During the session, Putin offered his condolences and assured that Russia would provide all necessary assistance. He disclosed that two planes carrying 50 specialists have been prepared to immediately join the search efforts.
Additionally, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has mobilised support for the search operation, with footage showing the Tsentrospas detachment’s helicopter being loaded onto an Il-76 aircraft.
