Ray Vines sparks uproar with hurtful comments on Solomon Harudzibwi’s albinism

Comedian Ray Vines has sparked outrage on social media after he made derogatory remarks about Solomon Harudzibwi’s albinism.

Ray Vines’s offensive post has triggered a wave of criticism as people are calling him out for his hurtful, derogatory and insensitive remarks.

Ray Vines, whose real name is Melusi Chiripowako, is facing the wrath of social media after insulting Solomon Harudzibwi due to his albinism.

The controversy began when Ray Vines disparaged the highly popular Zimdancehall musician, Winky D, claiming that Winky D hadn’t released any hit songs since 2013

“Zvekugona music uyu akapedzesera muna 2013 pazouya chibaba (Soul Jah Love) akabva apera till now akuimba twumasong twekungobowa everytime,” Ray Vines wrote.

Ray Vines’s post caught Solomon Harudzibwi’s attention, prompting him to throw shade at Ray Vines and allude that he was seeking favour from the ruling ZANU PF party in his response.

“Zanu PF won’t pick you. Rest, rather concentrate on your dry jokes. Budget ye Zanu yakatopera, try 2028,” Solomon commented.

In retaliation, Ray Vines replied with a highly insensitive and hurtful comment, mocking Harudzibwi’s albinism.

“Ndosaka uchishisha ukarohwa nezuva,” Ray Vines said.

Ray Vines’s response sparked an uproar on social media as netizens slammed him for making derogatory comments about Solomon Harudzibwi’s albinism. Netizens argued that Ray Vines’s remarks were no longer solely about Solomon but instead insulted the entire Zimbabwean albinism community.

Here are some of the reactions

@VaNyakudya;

You are very stupid. Why attack Solo like that washaya zvimwe zvekutaura here? If you can’t engage people based on facts concentrate on your dry and silly jokes.

@TreasureBasopo;

This is a gross, pathetic, disgusting and unfortunate tweet from a person who got an enrollment at Midlands State University.

@rayvinesmelusi, shame on you for this tweet and response to @S_Harudzibwi.

Musoro wakazara mayonnaise!

@fortunechasi, your boy needs psycho-analysis.

@zanupf_patriots;

This message is unfortunate and in bad taste.

Mabva matuka vakawandisa ipapa.

@Munyah_wacho;

Mpfana anozviti Ray Vines takanyanya kumusekerera achiita nonsense now he’s attacking people living with albinism for their condition. That’s very low even for Malaga

@The_Tonga_Queen;

No this is not a society we want where people with albinism are name-called like this, if you have arguments resolve them without stigmatising and throwing uncouth slurs at people.. @rayvinesmelusi must be reported for this hate speech

@maDube

It’s disheartening to witness Ray Vines stooping to low levels, resorting to hurtful jabs and cheap shots. Mocking someone, especially over something as serious as disability, is not only distasteful but also shows a lack of character. Let’s not glorify such.

Angry followers are now unfollowing Ray Vines following his comments on Solomon Harudzibwi attacking his albinism. This comes after Ray Vines refused to apologize and delete his post. Ray Vines has since lost more than 2k followers.

On the other hand, some social media users are blocking and reporting his account, while some are tagging the Zimbabwe Republic police X handle and are imploring them to arrest Ray Vines.
