The unidentified robbers managed to intercept a cash-in-transit van and hijack it so they could fleece it of the millions of rands it was transporting. The group had several cars for the job, including a bakkie and a BMW sedan.
After successfully hijacking the cash-in-transit van, the robbers drove it to a secluded township and parked in an open, grassy area. One jumped inside the truck and set the explosives inside while others circled. This was all in full view of the community members, some of whom were recording from their homes.
After one had set up the bomb, the group fled from the cash-in-transit van. A car arrived, and one of the thieves opened and took something before running to a nearby spot. A few seconds later, the bomb goes off in a loud explosion that sends fiery flames into the sky.
Community members frantically scattered as black fumes engulfed the sky. Moments later, they leave their homes and rush to the explosion scene to get free money flying in the sky. It was a chaotic scene. Watch it below.
