A 28-year-old woman from Headlands has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a magistrate in Rusape for engaging in s3xual !ntercourse with a 17-year-old boy without his consent.
The woman, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, faced charges of aggravated indecent @ssault in the Rusape Magistrates’ Court.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the incident took place on August 17, 2024, when the teenager visited the woman’s home to request that she send him some videos.
While they were sitting together and sharing videos, the situation escalated inappropriately.
The NPA reported that the accused engaged in actions that led to s3xual intercourse without the boy’s consent, after which she instructed him not to tell anyone about the incident.

The victim later confided in his mother, who supported him in reporting the matter to the authorities.
Following the investigation, the accused was @rrested, tried, and subsequently convicted, receiving a 10-year pr!son sentence.
Under Zimbabwe’s Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, the legal definition of rape is specific to forced penetration, which means that the law considers only male perpetrators in such cases.
However, women can still be charged with aggravated indecent @ssault in similar situations, which carries penalties comparable to those for rap3.
