In a brazen display of lawlessness, cattle rustlers struck again yesterday in rural Mhondoro, leaving a trail of devastation and de@th in their wake.
According to a post by Mashonaland West Proportional Representative MP Mutsa Murombedzi, the thieves, who have grown increasingly daring, even left mocking notes on the carcasses of the stolen livestock, including the chilling message “Idyai Nyama” – a taunting phrase that roughly translates to “enjoy the meat”.
The scourge of cattle rustling has long plagued rural Zimbabwe, but the latest incidents have taken a particularly sinister turn.
The theft of an ox is not just a financial blow to rural families, but an emotional one, as these animals are often the lifeblood of their livelihoods.
What’s more, cattle rustling is frequently accompanied by vi0lence, putting the lives of rural residents at risk.

The people of Mhondoro are demanding action from authorities to stem the tide of cattle rustling and bring the perpetrators to justice.
