The tragic case surrounding Ruth Hwara’s untimely d3ath due to a kidney condition has taken a sh0cking turn, unveiling allegations against her uncle, Nigel Mukono, who is accused of misappropriating funds meant for a life-saving kidney transplant.
Just days after Ruth’s passing on August 15, it was revealed that Mukono reportedly used the funds raised through public donations for his own personal gain, specifically to pay lobola for a new marriage.
The community’s generosity had poured into a GoFundMe campaign initiated by Ruth to secure financial help for her surgery, eventually accumulating tens of thousands of dollars.
However, the betrayal deepened when it came to light that Tendai Chibwe, an Ecocash agent responsible for managing these donations, had embezzled a significant portion of the funds, leaving Mukono with only US$1,100 from the US$13,000 that was transferred.
This financial mismanagement caused critical delays in Ruth receiving her much-needed treatment, ultimately leading to her tragic d3ath while awaiting a transplant.
