The Department of Home Affairs has launched an investigation into the citizenship status of Chidimma Onwe Adetshina, a finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant.
The inquiry was prompted by the Miss SA Organisation, following widespread speculation and controversy surrounding Adetshina’s eligibility to compete due to her parents’ alleged foreign nationality.
The 23-year-old model and netball player has faced intense public scrutiny, with recent revelations including her traditional Nigerian wedding and subsequent divorce from her husband, with whom she shares a young child.
The Miss SA Organisation has confirmed that Adetshina has disclosed her divorce, and the investigation into her citizenship status is currently underway.
