A 33-year-old KwaZulu Natal man is scheduled to appear in Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, October 15 on five counts of m_rder and two counts of attempted m_rder after stabbing his relatives.
On Saturday, October 12, a manhunt was initiated, and he was captured a few hours later at his home in the Bethany section of Bergville.
Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the provincial police spokesperson, stated that the station commander led the operation, and authorities immediately acquired information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts.
“According to reports, the suspect and his uncle went to see the neighbours and returned to find his mother sitting in the lounge with others.
The suspect then turned his attention on his uncle, who was st@bbed and k!lled in the passage while attempting to flee to the neighbours for safety. “The suspect went on to stab and k!ll two girls, ages two and six.
The wicked suspect also st@bbed and k1lled a disabled woman and an elderly woman who had visited the house.
“The suspect’s mother and another four-year-old girl survived with multiple st@b w0unds,” Netshiunda stated.
The suspect’s sister had fled to safety with her one-year-old child. “The suspect’s sister escaped to safety with her one-year-old child. The ages of the other victims were yet to be determined.
