In a remarkable turnaround, the Zimbabwe senior men’s rugby team, the Sables, defeated Namibia 32-10 in the Rugby Africa Cup semi-finals at Uganda’s Mandela Stadium.
This victory marked the Sables’ first win over Namibia in 23 years, defying the odds and surpassing expectations. Despite Namibia’s strong start, scoring three points in the first four minutes, Zimbabwe rallied and took the lead 14-3 at halftime.
The Sables continued their dominance in the second half, scoring three more tries to secure a convincing 32-10 win.

Team captain Hilton Mudariki credited the coaching staff for the team’s success, citing their professionalism and guidance.
He also praised the team’s blend of youth and experience, which contributed to their triumph. The Sables will now face Algeria in the final on Sunday, seeking to repeat their 2012 Africa Cup victory.
