A Mutasa magistrate has cleared four Zimbabwean villagers of misconduct charges.
Jennifer Sithole, Tafirenyika Boterere, Shadreck Manyange, and Brighton Manyange were accused of protesting alleged fund misuse at Sagambe Primary School in Honde Valley.
According to reports, the villagers demanded action against school head Evans Mwaturura, who faced maladministration allegations. They were arrested, charged with disorderly conduct, and tried at Mutasa Magistrates Court.
During the School Development Committee Annual General Meeting, parents raised concerns against Mwaturura.
Esther Kuseri, pregnant at the time, was arrested for speaking out but later released after paying a fine.
Former SDC chairperson Chikosa faced separate charges for allegedly promoting public vi0lence but was removed from remand.
On September 4, 2024, Magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe acquitted the four villagers, finding them not guilty.
