Harare’s premier shopping and dining destination, Sam Levy Village, has been listed for sale with an asking price of approximately US$120 million.
Situated in Harare’s upscale suburb of Borrowdale, the shopping center was established in 1990 by the late Jewish businessman, Sam Rahamin Levy.
Reports indicate that the center has experienced a decline due to persistent electricity shortages and frequent power cuts, compelling tenants to rely on generators for power.
After 34 years of ownership, Rahamin Levy’s family is now selling the property.
Several businesses within the shopping center are slated for closure, including the Ster Kinekor cinema, which is reportedly shutting down due to a lease expiration issue.
