The Southern African Regional Anti Corruption Organisation has nabbed another corrupt traffic police office for taking bribe in Ruwa.
Lucia Sithole 44 of Timire Park Ruwa was arrested after demading and taking bribe from a kombi driver Casper Muchena of Mbare.
According to a Memo recieved by Hararre Mirror, the now accused person and other two municipal police officers were on duty doing traffic enforcements along Harare-Mutare highway near George shopping centre in Ruwa.
A Nissan Caravan commuter omnibus reg No AFE 7538 travelling from Harare to Goromonzi stopped at the market Bus stop along the highway and suddenly a municipal traffic officer emerged and placed a steel bar in the wheel of the commuter omnibus.
All passengers were ordered to disembark and three municipal police officers jumped inside and orderd the driver to proceed to their council yard and as this was happening the other male officer was writing a fine ticket.
They left with the commuter omnibus intending to go to the council yard but along the way just near the shops a female officer who is now the accused then asked for twenty dollars from the driver who said he had a US ten dollar note but the now accused refused and rather demanded twenty and she was handed over 2 x 10 dollar notes with serial numbers PB86049838 C and PB8887700 D.She then instructed the driver to make a U-turn and drop them emmediately .
The driver drove back to where he had dropped his passengers and advised the three Southern Africa Regional Anti Corruption Organisation members who had earlier on introduced themselves to him before boarding the commuter omnibus at fourth Street.
The three Saraco members did not waste time as they contacted their female counter part who was nearby and they approached the municipal police officers who were in uniform with one male officer who was in civilian attire and introduced themselves as members from SARACO.
The three Municipal officers were told to take out all the cash in their pockets but the female one who is now the accused refused resulting in the female Saraco member searching her and US 45 dollars was recovered from her shirt pocket and the two ten dollar notes matched those taken pictures by the kombi conducter before it was handed over to the driver .
The female municipal officer was subsequently arrested and taken to Ruwa police station where the Officer In Charge Chief Inspector Tinarwo was advised and a docket for Contravening section 174 of the criminal codification and reform Act was opened .

Last week a corrupt police officer from ZRP Dema was again nabbed by another team from Southern Africa Regional Anti-Corruption Organisation.
Investigations are being done by ZRP Ruwa and accused is expected to appear in court soon.
A number of municipal officials and officers from different municipalities across the country have been arrested for corruption since January.
