Panashe Mukura, a 31-year-old self-proclaimed prophet from East View Phase 21 in Harare, has been accused of murdering a 12-year-old boy in a gruesome and bizarre incident. Mukura appeared in court yesterday, where he openly admitted to the crime, but claimed he had no idea what he was doing.
According to prosecutors, Mukura stabbed the boy in the neck with scissors, mutilated his private parts, and used a comb to stab him in the nose. He then dragged the boy’s lifeless body outside and partially buried him in the garden. When questioned about his actions, Mukura claimed he was fighting someone in his dreams and didn’t understand what happened.
The court heard that Mukura had previously been jailed for attempted murder and was released in July 2023. Despite his history of violence, Mukura denied having any mental health issues.
The case has left the community in shock, and many are questioning how someone with a history of violence could be entrusted with the care of a child. Mukura’s case has been remanded to July 15 for further proceedings.
