Longtime manager Elder Shambare, who had been steering the ship for Zimdancehall sensation Silent Killer, recently spilled the beans on his experience working with the artist.
In a move that left many Zimdancehall enthusiasts scratching their heads, Shambare announced his departure from Silent Killer after more than a decade of managing his career.
Providing more insight into the reasons behind his decision, Elder Shambare opened up about what led him to part ways with Ngwere, especially when the artist is at the pinnacle of his career. During a conversation with H-Metro, Shambare disclosed that his departure wasn’t prompted by the end of a contractual agreement but rather by Silent Killer’s perceived lack of professionalism. Shambare alleged that the artist showed a disregard for business matters, lacked seriousness in both his professional and personal life, and was compromising his music career through drug abuse.
“The issue isn’t at all about the contract ending but I have failed to put up with his behaviour, lack of seriousness about business issues and his life and drug abuse at the expense of building his career,” he said.
On why he had mentioned the lapse of his contract when he parted ways with Silent Killer, Shambare clarified that he did so to protect the Zimdancehall chanter’s reputation and future prospects.
“I am afraid that if I tell you the real issues, it will further affect his career as fans and promoters will know the real Silent Killer. So, I just decided to put it lightly so that I don’t cause despondency in various quarters,” Elder Shambare added.
It is unclear who will take over the reins as Silent Killer’s manager going forward but Elder Shambare stated that the new manager will undoubtedly face formidable challenges in their role.
