In an emotional update, relief washed over the cunity as news emerged that Shaun Nyemba popularly known as Sunflower, a transwoman who had been reported missing, is reportedly safe and sound.
Gratitude flowed from Sunflower and her supporters, who expressed deep appreciation for everyone who helped and kept her in their prayers during the past few harrowing days.
On Friday, June 28, 2024, Sunflower was supposed to check into an Air BnB in Harare after traveling from Bulawayo.

Instead, after a night out with friends, she was abducted by an individual who took advantage of her inebriated state.
The unidentified person claimed he would escort her to her Air BnB, but his intentions were far from honorable.
She was allegedly r0bbed and s3xually ass@ulted before being
abandoned in a remote area near Norton along Bulawayo Road.
Left alone and traumatised, she faced the daunting task of finding her way back to safety. Demonstrating incredible resilience, Sunflower walked from Norton to the Harare CBD, a journey that spanned a considerable distance.
Her ordeal ended late Monday night when she reached the GALZ Drop-In Center (DIC) around 9 PM.
There, she found a safe place to rest and began receiving the necessary support.
The community rallied around her, ensuring she had access to medical care and the emotional support needed during this challenging time.
Respecting her privacy, Sunflower’s supporters emphasised the importance of allowing her the space to heal.
They conveyed their collective relief and gratitude for her safe return, acknowledging the difficult days that had passed, and the crucial in the days that would be come.
However, Zimbabweans couldn’t hold back their thoughts, reacting skeptically to the claim that someone walked approximately 45km from Norton to Harare CBD.
Here are some of the reactions:
“They think we are stupid. Hanzi walked from Norton to Galz. 💀💀💀,” commented user @NowAvailable21.
“He was dumped in Norton on Friday evening and walked from there to Harare and arrived in Harare around 9pm? Those that “found him” just walked away after finding him? Why did he walk from Norton to Harare? Ooh he had been r0bbed? Anga asisina kana dhora rekupinda muHarare?” questioned @Zvoutete14.
“Gangster, it’s 45km from Harare to Norton. Depending on where you live, it can be more, and we’re looking at 10 hours of trekking on foot, more or less, depending on your pace. And you’re telling me this guy walked for that long? This story isn’t adding up; he’s lying, fruit cake uyu,” expressed @dimitri_the_man.
