Fugitive Malawian preacher Shepherd Bushiri led trends on Monday morning following a scandal where he is accused of luring a young woman to Malawi.
Kesego Mabote took to her Facebook to expose the chats, voice notes, and interactions she alleged to have had with Prophet Bushiri through his verified personal account, and WhatsApp number.
In the chats and voice notes, a voice that is said to be that of ‘Major One’ can be heard trying to lure the young woman, telling her how much he likes her, and organizing a flight ticket to Malawi.
The young woman said things turned sour when she posted the picture of the ‘Major One’ in public.
Bushiri’s legal team attempted to pressure the woman into removing the chats, resorting to threats of legal action. However, the woman responded by sharing additional content that corroborates her claims of communication with Shepherd Bushiri.
The letter read: “I act for Mr Anonymous (name withheld for security reasons). Client’s instructions are that recently you sent him a message through messenger wherein you requested that client urgently assist you as you claimed to have problems which need urgent attention.
Client advised you to follow the procedure but you insisted on speaking to my client personally. You called client through whatsapp/messenger and you advised client that you would like to travel so that you would not discuss your issues on the phone.
What became apparent during the conversation was that you were recording the conversation, for reasons known best by you. I am not going to go into details of the contents of the conversation at this moment,”
Allegations of this nature are not new to Shepherd Bushiriwho remains a fugitive from South Africa’s legal authorities. He has previously been accused of raping women and girls as young as 16, including two sisters; drugged some, bribed them into silence, and threatened others with murder in six years of jaw-dropping sexual violence, prosecutors have alleged in 2021.
