A Shurugwi man has been ordered by a magistrate court to pay a US$100 fine or spend three months in Jail for k!lling and selling hyena meat to unsuspecting villagers.
According to sources, Magistrate Percy Mukumba who presided over the case ordered the accused Tinashe Mhlabati(25) to pay an additional compensation amount of US$1000 to Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority(ZimParks).
Mhlabati allegedly pleaded guilty to hunting the hyena with dogs, k!lling and selling an estimated 45kg of the meat.
In our African culture, a hyena is considered a spiritual and witchcraft associated animal therefore this case has irked numerous negative reactions from social media users.
