In a disturbing turn of events, a woman in Harare is now living in fear after receiving d3ath threats from her boyfriend’s wife.
Fearing for her life, the sidechick Mavis Munenge has taken legal action against her boyfriend’s wife, Lynette Machona.
According to source , Mavis Munenge filed for a peace order, alleging that Lynette Machona visited her workplace on December 2. She claims Lynette issued her with threats and expressed her readiness to face legal consequences for causing her harm.
“On December 2, she came to my workplace and threatened me, saying she was prepared to go to jail after harming me. I told her that her husband, Kelvin, told me that they were divorced,” recounted Mavis Munenge.
The situation escalated on December 9 when Lynette, accompanied by a friend, allegedly insulted and threatened Mavis.
She allegedly warned her and stated that she was going to consult a sangoma in Gokwe if their relationship persisted. Lynette reportedly made another appearance on December 13, claiming she had just returned from Gokwe.
Lynette Machona, however, denied issuing d3ath threats but admitted warning Mavis to stay away from her husband.
“She said I was my husband’s ex-wife, yet I’m his wife. I begged her to leave my husband. I’m just asking her to leave my husband alone and stop harassing me,”Lynette retorted.
In response to Mavis Munenge’s plea for protection, Magistrate Tamari Chibindi granted the peace order, cautioning Lynette Machona to refrain from approaching Mavis at her workplace
In a separate case, last year in December, Fabina Charuwanza initiated legal action against his boyfriend’s wife, Stella Mwenda.
She accused Stella Mwenda of breaching the peace by posting her pictures on social media and allegedly stalking her.
In her defence, Charuwanza claimed that she did not know that her boyfriend was a married man.
“I didn’t know that they are lawfully wedded because I saw his profile in a singles WhatsApp group,” Charuwanza stated during the proceedings.
Mwenda, a mother of three with her husband, chose not to challenge the peace order application. Nonetheless, in expressing her distress, she disclosed the strain on her marriage. She pointed to her husband’s absence over the past four months and their diminished intimacy, attributing these issues to Charuwanza’s involvement.
