Zimdancehall musician Silent Killer has slammed corruption as the major problem that is destroying youths in Zimbabwe much worse than drugs particularly crystal meth commonly known as mutoriro.
Silent Killer says that hunger has forced many youths into taking drugs. Also, he claims that the drug is finding its way into the country due to corruption at the country’s border posts.
He says authorities must deal with with much effort as they deal with drug abuse. They must address corruption first which has driven many into unemployment.
“Corruption is worse than mutoriro, it was the first to destroy the nation. They say they want to stop crystal meth use but it gets into the country through the borders.
“How come you brutalize our own youth? We are the Zimbabweans,” he says in a video.
Silent Killer also highlights the problems faced by unemployed youths who end up stealing, killing, gambling and doing all sorts of things to buy the drug which they use as an ‘escape from poverty’.
There is no way they are going to end this pandemic because the youths are hungry, he says.
“You can not advise a hungry person. Give us food first then we can discuss,” he charges.
He challenges the authorities to open up more opportunities for the youths so that they may desist from abusing drugs.
“If we had access to Playstaion, wifi and all sorts of entertainment, why would we indulge in drugs?” Silent killer boldly asks.
