Six people were k!lled in a tragic accident when a haulage truck reportedly lost its brakes and smashed a parked car.
The incident occurred along the Mutare-Masvingo highway when a haulage truck collided with the Mazda BT50. The force of the impact resulted in the death of four passengers on the spot, while another person succumbed to injuries on the way to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital. The sixth person died upon admission to the hospital.
Confirming the details of the accident, Manicaland’s acting director of local government services, John Misi, expressed the gravity of the situation. He reported that the haulage truck’s brakes failed, and it rammed into a stationary cab.
In addition to the tragic loss of lives, seven individuals sustained injuries in the accident. These injured victims have been admitted to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, where medical teams are providing the necessary care and attention.
The community is left in shock and mourning due to the sudden and devastating nature of the accident. Authorities are working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the brake failure on the haulage truck, seeking to prevent similar incidents and enhance road safety measures.
