Socialite and car dealer Matthew Musengezi is facing another legal battle after being arrested and charged with fraud involving the importation of cars.
This comes just weeks after he was acquitted in a culpable homicide case. Musengezi appeared in court yesterday, looking visibly strained from his time in remand prison.
He lashed out at journalists, accusing them of writing “lies” about his cases.
According to media reports, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has accused Musengezi of fraudulently importing a 2020 Ford Ranger and generating fake invoices to avoid paying duties. He is also alleged to have illegally imported and registered a 2020 Toyota Fortuner SUV.

It is alleged that the State claims that ZIMRA lost US$40,000 due to Musengezi’s fraudulent activities.
He has been denied bail and will spend another night in remand prison until the State justifies its consent to bail.
This latest development marks a dramatic fall from grace for Musengezi, who was once known for his lavish lifestyle and frequent trips to cities like Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
