A 31-year-old man from KwaZulu-Natal has been sentenced to life in prison for repeatedly r@ping his mentally disabled biological mother, who had reported the ab_se to no avail before finally finding the courage to report it to the police.
The man, who was not named, appeared in the Ntuzuma Regional Court on Friday, where the sentence was handed down.
The court heard that the man had r@ped his mother on several occasions, with the first incident occurring in 2020.
Despite her repeated complaints to those around her, no one took action until her sister visited from out of town and reported the matter to the police.
According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, the man’s mother was mentally disabled to a degree and was forced to live with him in the KwaMashu area.
