South African police arrest Zimbabwean car thief

South African police arrest Zimbabwean car thief

In a recent incident, luck finally ran out for a Zimbabwean car thief when he was arrested by police officers in a thrilling incident that felt like a scene straught out of a Hollywood movie.

The daring escapade came to an end when members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) successfully captured the thief after a high-speed chase that could rival scenes from the Fast and Furious movies.

The thief, whose identity remains undisclosed, had stolen a Toyota Hilux with a Gauteng number plate in South Africa. He put up a fierce resistance as he sped away from South Africa, aiming to reach Maputo, Mozambique, where he planned to sell the stolen vehicle. The dramatic pursuit unfolded on dusty roads, resembling something straight out of a Hollywood action movie.

Remarkably, the chase was captured on video, showing the stolen Toyota Hilux maneuvering skillfully as if it were being driven by Dominic Toretto. Undeterred, a police helicopter pilot expertly pursued the speeding vehicle. Eventually, the car thief was apprehended by armed police officers who swiftly placed him in handcuffs. He was then escorted to the helicopter, which escorted him back to face the consequences of his crime. A sigh of relief was expressed by the presumed owner of the stolen Toyota Hilux in a WhatsApp voice message, grateful that the thief was caught before he could cross into Mozambique and deliver the car to a buyer.

In a related incident, the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court handed down a10 year prison sentence to two Zimbabwean nationals, Namer Ndovu (27) and Collen Singanje (28), for tampering with essential infrastructure. The pair was caught red-handed with eight pieces of signal copper cables by PRASA security guards at E’skia Mphahlele Drive in the Wonderboom area. Despite pleading not guilty, state prosecutor Lufuno Manena successfully proved the charges beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the conviction of Ndovu and Singanje.
