In the heart of Mabvuku, Zimbabwe, the Special Heart Foundation has established an open learning school, providing a glimmer of hope for children whose dreams of education have been shattered by poverty, abandonment, and neglect. The foundation’s mission is to empower these young minds, offering them a chance to break free from the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
One remarkable example is a 13-year-old girl who had never set foot in a classroom until she was taken in by the Special Heart Foundation in 2020. With the help of a kind-hearted teacher, she began her educational journey, and soon, other children from the community joined her. Today, the foundation’s open school caters to 86 children who had previously dropped out of school due to poverty.
The foundation’s founder, Ms. Hazvineyi Mawoyo, recognized that many of the children’s mothers were struggling to make ends meet, often due to unemployment and homelessness. To address this, the foundation initiated a detergent-making course, training over 30 women in partnership with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Community Development. This initiative aims to equip these mothers with life skills, enabling them to support their children’s education and break the cycle of dependency.
The Special Heart Foundation’s open school is in need of essential resources, including chairs, tables, toilets, pens, books, and more. The organization also offers feeding programs when aid is available. By supporting this noble cause, we can collectively make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and empower them to build a brighter future.
The Special Heart Foundation is a registered foster children’s home in Mabvuku, Zimbabwe, dedicated to caring for orphaned, vulnerable, abandoned, disadvantaged, and discriminated communities. The foundation’s efforts focus on providing education, support, and empowerment to these young individuals, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
