Zimbabwean opposition leader and former Citizens Coalition for Change President, Nelson Chamisa, has expressed his concern about the state of Zimbabwe’s politics.
Chamisa described his country as the “sick man” of the SADC region in Africa.
In a statement seen by Newsreportzim.com, the opposition leader stated that t0xic, oppressive politics tarnish the image of a country.
He called for an end to oppressive politics and demanded the release of political prisoners.
“ZIMBABWE IS THE SICKNESS OF SADC…Toxic oppressive politics tarnishes the image of a country. In the whole of SADC and in Africa, Zimbabwe is leading for the wrong reasons and is notorious for intolerance and repressive politics.
This is so embarrassing and must stop. Stop this nonsense. What a national shame! Release these political prisoners!,” the statement reads.
The opposition leader’s emotional words came after his former senior party member Hon Jameson Timber and 74 other party activists have detained for over 45 days in prison.
Jameson Timber, the former Harare senator and 74 others have been denied bail by the Harare provincial Magistrate Ruth Moyo more than twice.
