A shocking scene greeted a female traffic enforcement officer and her family in Harare on Sunday morning when they awoke to find an empty c0ffin, splattered with bl00d, discarded in their yard.
The unsettling discovery was reported by Eronia Payesa, a 42-year-old Constable assigned to Harare’s CBD Traffic division, who lives in the New Msasa suburb.
The incident was confirmed in a memo from Hatfield police addressed to the Officer Commanding Chitungwiza Police District.

According to police reports, the family went to bed on Saturday night following a typical evening. Their son, 10-year-old Tinashe Mahahani, was the last to return home, entering the yard around 6:30 PM.
It was noted that the gate was left unlocked when he came back from school, which may have led to the unexpected delivery.
The alarming “gift” was discovered by Lauren Simango, 34, who woke up early that morning with the intention of tidying up the yard. Upon her discovery, the coffin – measuring 160 cm x 57 cm – was found at the entrance of their property, but within the gate.
Upon further investigation, police noted that the c0ffin was opened, revealing what appeared to be blood smeared inside.
The incident has since drawn the attention of detectives from the specialist CID Forensic Unit, who have begun looking into the matter more thoroughly.
