The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has given the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Police Service a three-day deadline to take legal action against a student accused of @tt@cking and permanently injuring a teacher in Offinso.
According to GNAT Secretary Mr. Musah Tanko, the incident unfolded when a teacher confronted a student who was loitering after the designated break period.
When the teacher instructed the student to return to class, the situation escalated, leading to the student stabbing the teacher in the left eye. As a heartbreaking result, the teacher has permanently lost the use of that eye, significantly impacting both his life and career.

In a recent statement, Mr. Tanko stressed the need for immediate justice and proper compensation for the afflicted teacher, highlighting the gravity of the situation. “Any compensation owed to the teacher must be provided without delay,” he asserted.
Additionally, GNAT has cautioned both the GES and the Police Service that if the issue is not resolved swiftly, the association will have no option but to escalate its response.
“If we do not receive any positive updates by next week, we will determine our next steps,” Mr. Tanko warned, reaffirming GNAT’s dedication to seeking justice for its members.
